DESCRIPTION: WW - Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph, "Transitional" Pre-Moon, ref 145.022-69, manual wind, 42mm x 48mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back case, "DON" (Dot Over Ninety) black tachymetre bezel, brown leather strap, original black step dial which has turned an attractive even brown color with white painted Omega logo and luminous painted indices, three inset subregisters for minute recording, hour recording and subsidiary seconds, 17J, cal 861, s#29115371, triple signed. The Omega Speedmaster was chosen by NASA in 1965 after outperforming numerous other contenders in rigorous testing. They were first issued during the Gemini program using the older straight lug style 105.002. More Speedmasters were thereafter purchased, starting with the Apollo program astronauts being issued the "Professional" marked 105.012's in a beefier case with crown and pusher protectors as seen here. They remain flight qualified by NASA to this day and modern interpretations of this watch are still in production.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, chronograph functions and resets properly, mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, no oxide; flawless dial with evenly faded tritium lume indices; mint hands with even faded tritium lume; unpolished case shows hardly any wear, still retains all of its original factory finishing, nearly mint DON bezel, no dents or dings; original Omega signed crown shows hardly any wear; good Omega plastic crystal.
